The territory is mainly hilly, with the exception of the peaks of Poggio di Montieri and Cornate di Gerfalco which exceed 1000 meters above sea level. The peculiarities of the subsoil are the mineral resources of various kinds – this has made this territory already populated since the times of the Etruscans and locally, the Campiano mine represented the main source of work in the area. The metalliferous hills are an ideal place for a relaxing but not boring holiday, being crossed by exciting roads, to be traveled by motorbike or bicycle, they offer suggestive landscapes in the heart of a rural and wild Tuscany Starting from Siena, home of the Palio, and traveling in the direction of Follonica, you arrive in the heart of our hills where the Abbey of San Galgano and the Hermitage of Montesiepi are located.
